Beauty

March 26, 2002

A couple of weeks ago the another site that I write at had as their theme of the week, beauty. The question that was asked went along the lines of what was the most beautiful thing you have ever seen.

Off and on, I have seen some of the entries and thought about them as I have worked on some of my photo galleries.

I've been very fortunate to have been in some truly wonderful places, and have some great photographs from many of them.

That said, I'm going to cast my vote, albeit a tad late, for a smile. It's not a place, but a beaming face, eyes wide open and sparkling through to a joyous heart.

It's simple, and contagious, and for me, the best expression of beauty that I have ever seen.

A radiant smile is truly a gift.

Keep in mind however, that to appreciate beauty, one requires a receptive heart.

I understand all to well, that there days when the heart may be troubled, and and the window to the soul is closed. On those days I know it may be impossible to "see" the beauty that surrounds us.

I also know, that often we will be rewarded, if we take the time to really look.
