Sometimes you don't need a lot of words, other times you do. As I've
worked on this entry over the past several days, I've thought about
just what I might say, and then just moments ago, I thought about
putting this up, just letting the images speak for me.
But that's not what it's all about, because it's also about me,
and what I feel, and what's been going on lately, the following
being one of the ways I've been spending my time.
I've been scanning a lot, slides, negatives and photos, working
on project that I thought up, and even though it has consumed hours
and hours of time, it is, at the end of the day, a labor of love.
Blink, and they are gone.
They start out so small and frail, full of promise
and joy and laughter....
and in the begnning, you are their world, and they
yours
They laugh, they play, they sing and they dance,
and before you know it, they don't want to hold
your hand at haloween.
then there are three, gathered round the tree...
full of energy, she dances in anticipation of the first day of school...
and sisters bond in the autum sun...
spaghetti over a campfire stove... smiles remembering still
Blink, and three beside the tree are now standing tall, smiling for
the camera, all.
braces and summer smiles
For your 16th birthday trip we hit the big slopes together for the
first time. A special time together, still fondly remembered.
A year passed, and then two, along with two more trips out to the
slopes, and there you stood at the head of your class.
The issues of life seem to come wave after wave, and before you know
it, there they stand, smiling and tall.
College years brought encounters of mice and marsupials, trips and
vacations. On a joint venture to the deep south she paused in the
dying light of the November sun.
The day before graduation, the photographer, camera in hand, shot
images of flowers in the desert.
The next day, graduation, with honors with two degrees, studio art
with a major in photography, and fine arts with a major in fabrics.
all this last year however, there has been another who has come into
the picture....law school has started and life now, really changes
again
Some moments are private, and we couldn't share, but she sent me
the image, and now you know, the rest of the story.
You see, I've only got a little time before we take my laptop out
to Arizona, and play the images at the reception, the first weekend
in January, 2003.
