I'm tired, and it's time to go to bed.
But after talking to my realtor about 2 weeks ago, I decided that
40 showings and no offers ment that something was amiss and I called
a friend/vendor and asked what it would cost to strip the house
of all the wallpaper and repaint.
He gave me a good price and I've been helping, in between a two
day trip to my parents to see my mother before her latest round
of chemo, and let's not forget the power outages.
Mrs was home for some of this, and was very angry at the state
of the house, seeing strips of wallpaper ripped off this wall, and
that.
"This is not the way I wanted to remember my house. Why did
you have to do this when I was in town?"
Oh well... the painter was available and I was willing to write
the check.
Saturday we lost power for 4 hours, it was the hottest day of the
year. Then Monday, with the temps even higher, we went to rolling
2 hour blackouts because there was a problem in our 2 or 3 square
miles.
Tuesday shut us off for 8 hours, and presto, now we have power.
So I've got power, but where do I sleep?
And what about working on trying to find a house in ABQ? I get
online and feed info to the MRS as she drives around, but that doesn't
work when the power is out.
I've got another young man in the house while my son has been off
at the lake all week, but where is the poor boy going to pee?
The kitchen is the only room that I can function in for the moment,
laptop hooked upto the wireless router that is hidden under the
plastic in the den.
I spared you the girls room, the living room, and the dining room.
They all look the same, and the plastic is getting a tad boring.
All I can say is that I think I'll probably stay the night over
on the other side of the state tomorrow because I'm not seeing any
light at the end of this tunnel.
And I'm not sleeping with the boy - his is the only room that is
not torn up, well, that and the other bedroom in the basement occupied
by his friend.
Chaos has become my companion.
