September 2012 adventure to Europe by way of Paris after a flight on what is currently the largest airplane in the world. Amazing hotel stay in Italy prior to heading on over to France. Courmayeur, Italy on the grounds of the Auberge Hotel de la Maison.

At first, this just might look like another one of my many lightning shots.
What you don’t know however, is that this is 100% luck. It’s a daylight shot, and the only reason the lightning is in the image is that it flashed 3 times and after I pressed the shutter the first time, I was just lucky enough for it to have flashed the second time and I found it on my image.
What you also don’t know is that I really had no intention of trying to get a lightning shot out of this, I went up to the balcony to take a panorama of the late evening sky and all of the storms that were advancing across the horizon. Shooting from left to right, I set up on this frame first, and poof, there it was. It took a bit of work with the final images to keep the lightning from being “erased” from the panorama, but I finally figured out how to do it.
