Second photo of the day, Feb 14, 2014

It was all happening in the sky today I guess, at least from the point of view of my cameras. I only had time to use my cell phone to take this one after walking out from an early Valentines day dinner.

Photo of the day, 2.14.2014

Setting Moon behind Mt. Taylor, New Mexico Tomorrow I hope to have time to set up my camera before it sets.  Hopefully there will be a nice clear sky.  Tomorrow there will be 30 more minutes of light that should give more definition to the mountain.

Photo of the day Saturday, December 21, 2013

Saturday, after I realized that it would be fruitless to try and get to the top of the mountain, I decided that I could still get a reasonable workout by hiking the connecting trail for a couple of hours.  It’s amazing how much one is slowed down by trying to hike through 3 or 4 […]

Photos for the day, Saturday April 27, 2013

The mountain is almost devoid of bright color, especially since we have had little snow and no rain this spring. The cactus are still the bright spots on the lower mountain. Tucked away under a larger Cholla Cactus, the hedgehog lives, in and out of the sun.

Photos of the day and Quote for the day, Sunday, April 21, 2013

On my climb today I found the first wildflowers of the season. Now, perhaps the Scarlet Hedgehog Cactus is not considered a wildflower, but in my book, it counts, and this is my book. This particular cactus was just next to another that was about to burst into twenty to thirty blooms, which I hope […]

Photo of the day, April 5, 2013

I’ve tried to memorialize this tree several times this week but the light just was not right.  This evening, bright sun with a background of gray clouds helped, but it’s still not as good as the real thing.
