The Bug was for Free – Photo of the day, June 8, 2013

There I was, working on the macro settings of my camera and since I use manual focus, I was moving the camera every so slightly in and out to try and get the Mountain Parsley into focus. And along came a ??? I’ve got no clue just exactly what this is, but it sure has […]

Photos of the day, May 27, 2013, La Luz Trail

The trifecta of climbs is complete.  Saturday chimney canyon, Sunday TWA, and Monday La Luz. We start with a new to me, a flowering cactus which I believe to be a king cup cactus – which is in the variety known as the hedgehog cactus.  The needles are much farther apart on this than the […]

This particular cactus was just next to another that was about to burst into twenty to thirty blooms, which I hope […]

Photo of the day, April 5, 2013

I’ve tried to memorialize this tree several times this week but the light just was not right.  This evening, bright sun with a background of gray clouds helped, but it’s still not as good as the real thing.

Photo of the Day, April 1, 2013

No April fool’s joke, this, another amazing sky sculpture shot from my balcony. Larger panorama here (click to enlarge after loading) – and even that could have included a lot more sky.  The panorama shows over 100 miles from north to south.  This view shows about fifty  miles north to south, and the mountain is 65 […]

Photos of the day, March 29, 2013

It’s wildflower season in Arizona and despite the fact that hey have not had much rain, the road to Globe did not disappoint. My daughter had a few  hours left to her own devices while she was “hiding” from her mother in order to surprise her at her birthday dinner in the evening.  Daughter and […]
